12 April 2012: Assessment of the National Skills Development Strategy 2005-2010
From May 2010 to January 2012, the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), with its consortium partner the University of Cape Town’s Development Policy Research Unit (DPRU), evaluated the impact of a range of skills development interventions under the auspices of the National Skills Development Strategy II (NSDS II) from 2005 - 2010.
16 March 2012: New R42m national study starts in four provinces
The Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) and study partners kick starts its R42m national health survey, the South African National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (SANHANES) in four provinces as from Monday, March 19, 2012.

The Fourth South African National HIV, Behaviour and Health Survey (SABSSM 4), undertaken by the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) every 3 years, has been underway for just over a month. Fifty seven teams of field-workers are visiting selected homes in order to understand the health, behaviour, and HIV status of the people of South Africa.
27 January 2012: Strategic national health surveys hit the road

Two significant national surveys will be conducted by the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) this year.  The principal investigators of both studies are Dr Olive Shisana, CEO of the HSRC, Professor Leickness Simbayi, Professor Demetré Labadarios and Professor Thomas Rehle.  The team officially launched the start of the studies in Cape Town today and invited all households approached by the researchers to assist in answering the important questions posed during face-to-face interviews.
